The PL program is very full! A few of the things happening on saturday: An intro for new PL-visitors, an update of the Kurdish struggle and Rojava, a talk about Anarchists on social media and a session on conflict mediation.
A big chunk of the program will be filled by Cindy Barukh Milstein, Yuval Dag and Ayelet Gal. They have a series of sessions about Jewish Anarchism, Palestinian resistance and anti-Zionism.
New this year will be the State of the Movement, on saturday afternoon. In an hour we take stock of the local and international Anarchist movement, with different speakers.
Click here for all the Saturday program texts, in no particular order. In the booklet there will be a schedule with all the times..
Zaterdag
How to PL?
Discussion on federative structures for anti-authoritarian organising
For this session we want to explore needs and desires regarding the creation of federative structures in the Netherlands. In what way would these structures strenghten and embolden anti-authoritarian movements in the Netherlands? We would structure this session around several questions (to be determined in definitive form at a later point) such as for example:
• To what degree are revolutionairy organisations currently connected to each other, and how do they collaborate?
• What benefits do people experience from these collaborations? And what difficulties arise?
• What would be the (ideological) limits for creating federative structures, and why?
workshop actie fotografie
How to deal with unwanted ‘allies’?
As an anarchist in the current peace movement you constantly have to deal with controversial wannabe-allies, like tankies, far right extremists and conspiracy theorists. This has led to many discussions and arguments as opinions within this movement vary wildly, with some groups not unwilling to enter into some form of cooperation. Situations like this are know from other movements as well, with many unwanted possible outcomes: movements being overtaken or depoliticized, people walking away, groups and coalitions being dissolved, wasting time and energy…
An introduction with Stop Wapenhandel about experiences in particular in the coalition De Nieuwe Vredesbeweging (New Peace Movement) and some other examples from other movements. Followed by discussion on how to deal with these questions and situations: how do you keep unwanted ‘allies’ away, without letting movements fall apart and chasing people away?
Short history of the Kurdish Freedom Movement and update on the current situation in Rojava
For this session we want to give an introduction on the paradigm of Democratic Confederalism, give an introduction to the history and ideology of the Kurdish Freedom Movement as well as give an update on the current situation on the Rojava Revolution.

Skillshare: workshop best practices
Prepping otherwise: Survival(ism) beyond Enclosure
Against the context of militarism, European rearmament and current discourses on global instability, we explore community prepping, aka socially-oriented disaster preparedness. In this workshop, we refuse individualistic, militaristic prepping, shaped by capitalist logic based on scarcity and enclosure, normalised through the ‘Denk vooruit’-booklet, widely spread by the Dutch government. Instead we explore what liberatory, abolitionist and solidaritarian efforts of prepping look like in the face of increasing militarisation.
Crafting Mad Resistance
In this upside-down world our mental health is intertwined with the systemic oppression of capitalism, gender-based oppression and white supremacy, among others. This workshop introduces Mad methods as crucial tools for the sustainability of anarchist organizing in a maddening world. Let’s craft ways of taking care of each other when the mental health systems are more oppressive than caring.
If you want to occupy your hands during the workshop, you can decorate a rock to gift a friend, gently put on a shelf or through a window.
Who suffers the most?
Join us for a workshop that dives into the tensions that lay at the heart of current day leftist infighting. We’ll explore how movements navigate identity, solidarity, power, and strategy — and what happens when our ideals meet the messy reality of acting together in the here and now.
Through some input from the book Minority Rule, discussion and practical exercises, we’ll look at some of the reasons why the left might be losing to the right and how movements can strengthen themselves, avoid common pitfalls, and make space for complexity without losing momentum.
Practical animism
We humans have become a forlorn Animal. As a refugee child I was uprooted, but was overcome by the Western ‘civilised’ isolation and cruelty here. This workshop is a rewilding Skillshare where we learn to make a valuable prehistoric tool our indigenous ancestors used, made with local plants. Meanwhile we’ll explore what Rewilding and Animism are and how they are deeply connected with Anarchism & the practice of Decolonizing. How Biocentrism is an antidote to the human-centric Empire & how building profound Kinship with othen-than-human People
can bring us home to the ecosystems and the Land we live on.
Conflict Mediation
In our resistance against oppressive systems we are not only met by external pressures but also by internal ones. Conflicts are part of our life and organizing, yet we often have very little experience and knowledge on how to deal with them. So we quickly find ourselves in intense conflicts that break up our groups and lead to burnouts. And at the same time, we find little ways of dealing with harm done internally, which either leave us with a repetition of the same harm or push the harm to somewhere outside of us.
In this workshop we will dive into conflict resolution via analyzing what dynamics contribute to conflict, and what different ways there are to deal with conflict, from changing our group cultures to mediation techniques. We will do this via exercises, small and big group sharings, and input from the facilitator.
Abolish frontex
ABOLISH FRONTEX will give an overview of recent and suggestions for future autonomous actions. A survivor of Frontex violence & pushbacks will share his testimony of experiences on both the Greek and Bulgarian borders.
Abolish Frontex, Abolish Borders!
Klimmen op de PL / Up with Trees, down with capitalism
Is there a threatened forest, park, garden of a squat near you that is begging to be occupied? Or do you just want to learn how to climb up a rope, chill in a tree? Then come climb a tree with us! If you want to learn how to climb or need a refresher, join us bats in the forest. If you already have experience, you can also come practice, or we can see if we can share other skills (like sling climbing, building/climbing traverses, hanging ropes, tying knots, and so much more!). Feel free to stop by and we’ll see what’s possible!
State of the Movement
Nieuw dit jaar: de State of the Movement.
Judaism, Anarchism, and Jewish Anarchism
This series of four workshops will explore the link between Anarchism and Judaism, and also talk about Palestinian rights of return and anti-zionism. For these sessions three Jewish Anarchists traveled to the PL: Cindy Barukh Milstein, Yuval Dag and Ayelet Gal.
Exploring Jewish Anarchist Histories in the Netherlands
With the emergence of nineteenth-century anarchist and other emancipatory movements, many Jews joined the struggles for emancipation. The liberation of all humanity meant their liberation as Jews too. While we may know that internationally (in)famous anarchists like Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman were Jewish, we often aren’t aware of this in relation to many others. And in historiography, the way their Jewish backgrounds informed their anarchism is often neglected or dealt with only minimally. This is particularly true in the histories of the Dutch anarchist movement. Moreover, while there’s been a rightful attention to processes of decolonization over the past decades, such as focusing on Black and African anarchism, the substantial contribution of Jewish anarchists has been neglected, including as part of a multicultural movement. This talk is meant as an exploration of Jewish anarchists within the movement in the Netherlands. It is inspired by curiosity, wonder, and persistent questions that have come up over the last several years.
Mending the World as Jewish Anarchists
Jewish anarchism is far more than a historical footnote, killed off by the “Red Scare” and Holocaust. It’s a living, breathing, vibrant set of ethics, sensibilities, and practices, offering generative challenges to anarchism and anarchists (and likewise, for non-anarchist Jews). This talk will touch on how Jewishness/Judaism shapes not only an anarchic resistance to all forms of hierarchy and domination, or “the world that is,” but also an anarchistic dedication to continually experiment with forms of freedom in the here and now, toward “the world to come.” And it will share some of the varied ways that Jewish anarchists today are engaging in liberatory actions on the side of life, against the death machine.
Return from Gaza
The right of return is the demand that Palestinian refugees will be able to return to their homes and lands. It includes those displaced during the Nakba of 1948 and since, and their descendants.
Over the past year, Zochrot, an NGO working since 2002 to raise awareness of the Nakba and to promote the right of return, gathered a study-action group based in Bi’r al-Saba’, occupied Palestine, that focused on the right of return for refugees in Gaza. Through collective learning, the group produced a document combining research, lived knowledge, political imagination, and practical proposals for return.
In this talk, two Jewish anarchist members of the group will present the document, reflect on the process behind it, and discuss and discuss how anarchist movements relate to the right of return.
Reimagining Anarchist Solidarity in the Struggle against Zionism
We come to this session with broken hearts. What is the future of anarchism in the face of the rise of fascism, genocide, and unchecked violence? What can and can’t we do? And what is our job as anarchists when it feels like nothing is working? We’ll offer our thoughts and emotions, coming from different geographies, perspectives, and life experiences. Then we’ll open up conversational space to try to imagine together, with curiosity and empathy, our visions as anarchists, toward liberatory practices in the context of solidarity with Palestine (and thus in relation to other contemporary genocides).
