Accessibility
The Pinksterlanddagen tries to be as inclusive as possible. Anarchism is useless if not everyone can join. However, we do run into some constraints which we can’t fix, about which we can only be clear beforehand. We hope as many people as possible can take part in the PL, despite the shortcomings of the terrain. If you have specific needs or questions about this, mail to PL@puscii.nl.
Terrain:
- The campsite is grassy, and not completely even.
- Small parts are tiled, like around the canteen and sanitary building.
- There are no paths.
- There is a bungalow, with a bigger bathroom with arm-rests and a shower-stool.
- The threshold to for instance the canteen and the bungalow are 10-15 cm.
- During the PL we use an extra field outside the ‘real’ campsite as a place to pitch tents and park. This field belongs to a neighbouring farmer, who keeps his cows there. So the grass is high, and the ground is very uneven. If it’s hard for you to camp there, there are spots on the terrain. Ask about this at the entrance/infostand.
- If camping is a problem for you anyway, there might be room in the bungalow. Mail to PL@puscii.nl to check this.
- The terrain is just outside Appelscha. The closest busstop is 1,5 km away. The last 600m of this is a sandy, bumpy pair of tractor tracks. We don’t have a pick-up service or anything, but if you come by public transport and getting from the busstop to the terrain is a problem for you, than contact us in advance through PL@puscii.nl, and we can see what we can do.
Workshops:
- Parts of the program are inside, in the hall next to the canteen or in a sports-hall. Other workshops will be in big tents. If the weather is nice sometimes things move outside.
- All spaces have chairs and/or benches.
- Some workshops are in Dutch, others in English. We include this info in the program-booklet where possible. If you need whisper-translation, please ask for this at the start of the workshop.
- Is a workshop in a language you can understand well enough, but is it hard to express yourself? No worries, just speak your own language and surely someone will help out.
- Are there concepts or words being used that you don’t understand, for instance because they are jargon or ‘incrowd’? Please ask for explanation!
- Where needed and possible microphones and amplification will be used.
- Sadly, sign-language translation is not provided. If someone does speak sign-language they are ofcourse more than welcome to help out where needed.
Stimuli:
The PL are on a relatively small terrain with a lot of people and info coming at you. This can be overwhelming. We hope this doesn’t deter any people to come, though.
- Please bring your noise-canceling headphones, fidgets, heavy blanket or other tool to help against overstimulation. At the PL there is space to use them, lots of us deal with the same stuff so we understand.
- Do watch out with noisy fidgets during workshops. This could have opposite results for others 😉
- The campsite is in the middle of a big, nice and quiet forest. Strolling through it can be really good to decompress.
- We’re trying to accomodate a dark tent where it’s not busy, to chill out and read or something. More info on this later.
Health and bathrooms and stuff.
- The food in the canteen and with Rampenplan is vegan. If you have allergies, check in with them early in the day so they can accomodate. If you are more severely or uncommonly allergic, please ask for the possibilities through PL@puscii.nl.
- Please keep in mind Covid is not gone. And that ‘normal’ colds aren’t nice to spreak either. At the info-stand we will provide covid-tests and ffp2-masks of you need them.
- Toilets and showers are gender-neutral.
- Showers are in closed cabins, the washbasins aren’t.
- There will be some basic menstrual producst on all toilets.
- Don’t forget to bring sunscreen and mosquito-stuff!
